The KC Chiefs pick 32nd in the 2020 NFL Draft and they have several needs for their team in 2020 and beyond. CBS Sports has them adding an interior offensive lineman.

Josh Edwards of CBS Sports published his recent mock draft and at pick 32, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Tyler Biadasz out of Wisconsin. Here is what Edwards said about his selection,

"Kansas City won the Super Bowl but it does not mean that they are without their flaws. The interior offensive line needs to be upgraded. It is currently a makeshift group comprised of throw aways from other teams."

It’s hard to argue with Edwards here. The Chiefs offensive line improved down the stretch, but they got beat up by the 49ers front four. Adding an offensive lineman in the first round wouldn’t be crazy at all and Tyler Biadasz could be a nice option for the Chiefs in 2020 and beyond.

Looking at the Chiefs’ o-line situation, Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz are the anchors at tackle. Left guard, right guard, and center are all positions that could be upgraded, however, and that’s where Biadasz would be plugged in.

Left guard is either going to be vacant or will be filled by Andrew Wylie, center likely will be Austin Reiter‘s job to lose, and right guard could be open in 2020, as the Chiefs have a $4 million buyout option on Laurent Duvernay-Tardif‘s contract.

Biadasz played center at Wisconsin and according to The Draft Network, made 27 consecutive starts at center (that number being recorded prior to the 2019 season). If this were the pick, perhaps Biadasz spends a year at one of the guard positions or maybe Reiter is moved so that the rookie could play in his preferred position.

With Patrick Mahomes likely getting paid this offseason and him being the most important player on the field, it’s crucial for the Kansas City Chiefs to have an offensive line that can keep him upright. All too often we see teams pay their quarterback boatloads of money, but fail to be able to provide them with an offensive line that can protect them. The Chiefs can’t fail into that trap.

Tyler Biadasz would be a young, affordable option to have along the offensive line and the hope there is that he’d be able to step in and gel right from the start. Rookie offensive linemen can be hit or miss, but if he pans out, the Chiefs would have him on board for five years at the very least.

What would you think of the Chiefs drafting Biadasz in the first round?
