Andy Reid vs Kyle Shanahan

This match-up has more to do with narrative and legacy than it does the actual game, but I still want to take a moment to touch on it. Obviously if one coach just absolutely blows it, that would be great for the other team, but I have complete confidence that both of these head coaches are going to have good game plans and their guys ready. That just what elite coaches do.

I do wonder though if when Andy Reid looks across the sideline, he sees a younger version of himself. Kyle Shanahan was the offensive coordinator for the Falcons when they blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl a few years ago.

Since then, people have questioned his clock management in that moment, and unfairly threw a lot of blame his way. Shanahan is also a young, bright, offensive mind chasing a Super Bowl win in his first appearance.

Sound familiar? A young Andy Reid probably felt the same way all those years ago when his teams could never broke over the NFC Championship game hump, until they finally did just to be cannon fodder for the Patriots growing dynasty.

Reid has too know that this might be his last chance to get the monkey off of his back. One thing standing in his way is a coach that has his own Super Bowl demons to get over.

Both need this win to help solidify their legacy. Andy Reid definitely needs it more, but someone has to lose this game. Whoever does is going to have to add to their list of failures, and that is going to hurt either way.

That is why this match-up is worth keeping an eye on Sunday. Well, that, and the fact the both design some AWESOME plays and this should be a very fun game to watch.
