REID’S KRYPTONITE?

If you’ve read articles or listened to sports talk radio this week, you’re well-aware that Andy Reid is 1-8 all-time against the Tennessee Titans in his career. For whatever reason, the Titans have had Reid’s number during the course of his career.

While that’s an alarming record for sure, it’s meaningless when push comes to shove. Reid has been coaching in the NFL since 1999 and both his teams and the Titans have changed a lot throughout those 20 years. His poor record against Tennessee is just a coincidence and won’t have anything to do with why the Chiefs win or lose on Sunday.

The reason I have this listed as something to watch is because the last few times these two teams have met up, the games have ended bizarrely. Earlier this season, it took multiple special teams miscues and a fumble returned for a touchdown for Tennessee to win and even then, they only won by three points.

In the playoffs a few years ago, KC built a 21-3 lead and would lose 22-21. That collapse started with then Titans starter Marcus Mariota throwing a touchdown pass to himself. Earlier that season, the Titans had missed their initial field goal attempt, but Reid iced the kicker and he made it on the next attempt.

Three bad losses to the same team would make anyone think there’s a conspiracy, but let’s see if any funny business happens this time around.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the better team in this game and there’s really no debating that. The better team doesn’t always win though and that’s why football is such an intriguing sport. Kansas City has the potential to hang 30+ points on Tennessee and never look back, but the Titans have clawed their way here and aren’t to be taken lightly.

While I think the Chiefs will win the game, it’ll be a battle throughout and should be a fun one at Arrowhead Stadium this weekend.
