WINNER: SECOND QUARTER

It was 24-0 in favor of the Texans early in the second quarter and after that, it was clear that Mahomes and the Chiefs had seen enough. After Hardman’s 58 yard return, it took two plays to finally get on the board.

From there, the Chiefs went on to score three more touchdowns in the second quarter, the second time this team scored 28 points in the second quarter (first time was in week two versus the Raiders). One was a result of the Texans foolishly attempting a fake punt deep in their own territory, which the Chiefs sniffed out and then scored a touchdown three plays later.

More from KC Kingdom

The third touchdown was courtesy of Daniel Sorensen forcing a fumble and it landing right in Darwin Thompson‘s hands. The Chiefs scored three plays later to make it a three point game.

Then, the Chiefs made it down the field in the final minute of the half to take the lead. After being  down 24-0, they went into the locker room at the half with a 28-24 lead. Unbelievable.

WINNER: DAMIEN WILLIAMS

He might not have gotten a ton of rushing yards, but Damien Williams had three total touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) and that’s EXACTLY what the Chiefs need from their RB1 moving forward.

WINNER: ANDY REID

I know we all get a bit nervous with Andy Reid in big moments. He tends to play it conservative once the Chiefs have a big enough lead, but he didn’t do it this time. When KC was up 41-31, I thought for sure Reid was going to start getting cute and not going for the kill, thus allowing the Texans to crawl back into it.

Instead, the Chiefs scored another ten points and were able to breathe comfortably down the stretch because they had a decent lead. Let’s hope Reid continues this approach next week.
