MVP CANDIDATES

Number 1 – Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens

Since the last list, all Lamar Jackson has done is dismantle the Rams on Monday night, which made me sweat out a fantasy matchup, and beat a 49ers  team in style on Sunday. There’s not much else he has to prove as a quarterback. Jackson has turned into the face of the NFL due to his electrifying style on every single play.

Furthermore, he’s winning games with an eight-game winning streak.

The Case For

More from KC Kingdom

Jackson has beat the Seahawks, Patriots, Texans, Rams, and 49ers in the midst of this eight-game winning streak. Besides the rainy 49ers games, all those wins were by two touchdowns or more.

He’s a fascinating watch and not too mention, the Ravens control their own destiny for the 1-seed in the AFC. He still has one more primetime game against the Jets on Thursday, December 12, in which he will probably throw a behind-the-back pass.

The Case Against

While the resumé is almost impeccable, the one knit-picky item that is missing is a pressure-packed game-winning touchdown drive. Down by four, can he use his arm to dissect a defense to win a game? That is a valid question and the one leg up that Russell Wilson has over him right now.

This is partly because the Ravens just blow teams out, but it will be taken into consideration if it doesn’t happen before the season ends. However, that is playing devil’s advocate, as he has the clear edge in the MVP talk and that likely won’t be changing any time soon, barring something unusual.

MVP Moment:

Week 12 vs. Rams – 15/20, 169 yards passing, 5 passing touchdowns, 8 rushes, 95 yards rushing, win.

“Did he just do that?” Play:

39-yard run against the Texans in week 11.

Lamar Special:

“You changed the game, man.”

Here are some games to watch Sunday that could change this list:

Baltimore at Buffalo – 12:00 p.m.

Kansas City at New England – 3:25 p.m.

Seattle at Los Angeles Rams – 7:20 p.m.

There’s lots of time left for big players to step up in this MVP column.
