To replace Watkins and possibly Robinson, the Kansas City Chiefs will need to draft a receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft.

More from Chiefs Draft Analysis

The Chiefs will have positional needs galore this offseason. It’s likely to be a painful offseason, as players we’ve long followed are let go as the team tries to rebuild in certain areas.

Simply put, a lot of areas will need to be addressed. The Chiefs are going to need to continue to keep their offense strong. Regardless of our opinion about the defense, the offense is where this team will win games, and the Chiefs will need to continue to restock that position.

Devonta Smith is an ideal player for the Chiefs to target, as due to the very deep receiver group, may not require a first round pick to bring him in, but is a player that could contribute immediately for the Chiefs. After selecting Mecole Hardman in the second round of the draft last year, I won’t be surprised if the Chiefs opt again to select a receiver and Smith could be the ideal player with that pick.

Next time you hear from me, we will look at the tight end position, that , yes, will have a need for a backup with the potential to perhaps become a starter in a year or two. Blake Bell is a free agent after the season and Travis Kelce is now over 30 and has an injury history.
