It’s time for Deshaun Watson’s second match-up versus the Chiefs and first match-up against Patrick Mahomes.

In case you didn’t know, Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes were drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Mahomes was taken by Kansas City with the tenth pick and Watson by the Texans at number 12.

More from KC Kingdom

During Watson’s first match-up versus Kansas City, he threw for over 250 yards and five touchdowns, but wasn’t enough to win the game. This loss came in Watson’s rookie season (2017) at his home stadium when the Chiefs were led by  Alex Smith, who was traded to Washington after Mahomes’ rookie season.

This season, Watson is coming to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Chiefs. He will be coming in with the same offensive weapons that ran all over the Chiefs defensive secondary, DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller V. Both wideouts account for over 50 percent of Watson’s targets this season.

Here is Watson’s chance to show the Chiefs they made a mistake in picking Mahomes over him. Unless Watson wins MVP and a Super Bowl in the next few years, it’ll take a lot for the Chiefs to think that.

CONCLUSION

The Chiefs will be looking to rebound after a showing that left a sour taste in the fans mouths and worst taste in their own.

The Chiefs’ offensive line will be a huge factor in protecting Mahomes and giving him time to find his open receivers and opening running lanes for back to get down field. As is the opposite for the defense in trying to bring down a very talented quarterback and not allowing him to extend plays and hit for the big one.

This game could turn into a shootout quickly, as both teams have many weapons to light up the scoreboard. Kansas City needs to bounce back and show that one off week will not slow down their run deep into the postseason.
