Philadelphia Phillies

  • Alec Bohm 3B/1B – 23 years old for 2020 season
  • Adonis Medina RHP – 23 years old for 2020 season
  • Enyel De Los Santos RHP – 24 years old for 2020 season
  • Mickey Moniak OF – 22 years old for 2020 season

Alec Bohm, the former Wichita State Shocker, is a plus hit and power combination player, who can play average defense at the corner infield positions and exhibits an above average arm. Bohm has below average speed, but doesn’t to clog the bases and projects have plus hit and power tools to generate a .270 average and 19-22 homers per year. He has advanced plate discipline and should be able to generate an OBP 70 points above his batting average. ETA – 2021

Adonis Medina has dynamic stuff with a plus fastball (92-94 mph can touch 95-96 mph with tons of movement to generate groundballs), an above average slider, and an above average change-up. Medina fills up the strike-zone, but has some issues with command that leads to hittable pitches. With his competitiveness and athleticism, Medina could be a number three type starter. ETA – 2020

More from KC Kingdom

Enyel De Los Santos has a major league ready mix of fastballs and change-ups. De Los Santos throws his plus fastball in the 92-95 mph range and generates groundballs when he’s on his game, his above average change-up flashes plus a time with nice fade, and his curveball is still developing toward average with a slurve type break.

De Los Santos hasn’t found success at the MLB level yet, but pitched well at AAA limiting baserunners and home runs. De Los Santos could be a number four type starter. ETA – 2020

Mickey Moniak is a former number one overall draft pick, who had trouble finding consistency early in his development. Moniak is an athletic above-average defender with an above average arm capable of playing each of the outfield positions.

He has plus speed to steal 15 bases per year and projects to have an above average hit tool and average power to generate a .260 average and 11-14 bombs per year. Moniak still needs to improve his pitch recognition to generate more consistent hard contact and better OBP numbers, but he has solid gap power and speed to generate multiple extra base hits when he’s on his game. ETA – 2020

CONCLUSION

Whit Merrifield has been one of the best players to wear a Royals uniform. If the front office decides to listen to some of the Royals rumors and trade him this offseason to maximize his return value, the return offer needs to be great for the Royals to accept.

Each of the trades I proposed would give the Kansas City Royals exceptional near MLB ready talent for the next competitive roster nearing the majors in 2021 and beyond.
