Mizzou football had a bye week last week and now play four very winnable games in the month of October. If the Tigers want to prove they’re better than their week one loss to Wyoming, this is the time to prove it.

This weekend, the Missouri Tigers host the Troy Trojans to Faurot Field for what should be an MU blowout. I know Troy has been a sneaky team in the past (including upsetting our very own Tigers several years ago), but their head coach bolted for West Virginia and the Trojans are sitting at 2-2 on the year.

Troy has a prolific offense and that’s showed in all four of their games to this point, as their lowest points scored in a game was 35 against Akron two weeks ago. The Trojans haven’t played a Power-5 school yet and Missouri will be a whole other animal for them.

Missouri’s defense should be able to contain the Trojans, and with how good this Tiger defense has played since that embarrassing week one loss – Look for Mizzou to win big on Saturday.

Assuming Troy wins that game, they’ll be in good position for their next match-up against Ole Miss. The Rebels are 2-3 at the moment and have had some pretty shameful losses, though they did hang with Alabama for a good chunk of that game. Matt Corral is an impressive young quarterback, but he’s probably not going to have much ammo against the Tigers D. This should be another easy win for MU.

From there, Mizzou hits the road, playing at Vanderbilt and at Kentucky in the final two weeks of October. Neither of those teams have done much of anything this season and even though they’re road games, Missouri is the more talented team and should handle those opponents with ease.

If all goes according to plan, MU would be 7-1 heading into their anticipated match-up with the Georgia Bulldogs. While a lot of people would be quick to count the Tigers out of that one, I wouldn’t be so sure.

We all know that the Missouri Tigers are privy to their one silly loss each season, but the good news is that they already had that loss! It came in week one in Laramie to the Wyoming Cowboys. Since then, the Tigers are 3-0 and have looked like a totally different team.

This is an important month for Mizzou football because they have a favorable schedule and if they take care of business against those four opponents, it’ll be hard for them not to gain people’s attention heading into that critical match-up on the first weekend of November.
