6. Butker’s Miss

He used to be automatic. Now it seems like he’s going to miss at least one kick, either an extra point or field goal, almost every game. Woof.

7. Containing Detroit’s Tight Ends

Logan Thomas, activated just this week, hauled in three receptions on three targets for 25 yards. T.J. Hockenson, the No. 8 pick in last year’s NFL Draft out of Iowa, caught three passes on three targets for 27 yards and a touchdown.

8. Watkins’ Overaggression

Talking about his fumble here. He caught the ball, went down to his knees, and as soon as he started getting up to reach for the first down, was attacked and fumbled. He had to have known there were multiple Lions around him when he was on his knees, right? Why try to get up there? Just take the yards (it wasn’t third down) and live another day.

9. The First Hail Mary Attempt

Bat. The. Ball. Down.

10. Not Putting It Away

The offense had a chance to put this thing away in the fourth quarter when they took possession with a 27-23 lead. Instead, Mahomes and the offense ran just five plays, gaining only 19 yards, and taking only 2:34 off the clock before punting it away.

A touchdown there would have put the Chiefs up by 11 points with around maybe four minutes left, forcing the Lions to not only having to reach the end zone, but also to convert a two-point conversion.

It wouldn’t have been a much more anticlimactic conclusion to this ball game, but sometimes, I just want the Chiefs to beat down an opponent.
