Prior to last week’s game starting left tackle Eric Fisher was marked with apparent injury.

After hearing recent press conference with the Chiefs, it was stated that Chiefs starting tackle Eric Fisher will be out for an extended time as he is seeing a doctor about his recent injury. Fisher has been the main starting left tackle for the past year in KC and was establishing himself and growing.

Now we will see where the Chiefs go from here with key lineman going down.

Last week’s match-up against the Raiders saw the Chiefs try to give Fisher a chance to play through his injury, but he was unable to sustain his level of play. This, in turn, allowed Cam Erving to step in and take over for him. While Erving accelerated in pass blocking, it was his run blocking that failed for him most.

Whether or not Erving sticks to the starting job will be yet to be seen but if he does it will be interesting if Chiefs use more multiple tight end sets with Blake Bell to help in protection.

Last week both Damien William and LeSean McCoy went down with injuries.

More from KC Kingdom

Both players have sat out of practice or have been limited in what they could do. Being noted that both are not serious injuries, they are still severe enough to keep them from stressing the injury any further. This should open the gate for rookie Darwin Thompson to showcase his talents in the back field once again along with second year back Darrel Williams.

During preseason we got a glimpse of what this back can do and it was exciting to see. Going against the top rush defense, Darwin Thompson or any other back will have their work cut out for them regardless.

Over the first two weeks of the season Baltimore rush defense has only allowed 41 total yard on the ground.

SUMMARY

The Kansas City Chiefs will need to make a big step this season in taking down a top team in the NFL. A win this week will solidify them in contender conversations even more.
