KC Chiefs: Six players to watch in preseason week 3 vs 49ers
TREMON SMITH
It wasn’t a good sign for Tremon Smith‘s future with the organization when they moved him from cornerback to running back a few weeks ago. Cornerback is a position of weakness for the Chiefs, so if Smith couldn’t hack it there, him thriving in a pretty stacked position seems rather unlikely.

With that said, however, Smith still has time to prove himself. He hasn’t shown much so far, only recording three rushes for five yards through two games so far. Those five yards all came in the first preseason game against the Bengals.
It’s not looking good for the 2018 sixth round pick to make the 53-man roster, but maybe if he has a fantastic game this week, that can all change. I would not hold my breath on that one though.
CARLOS HYDE
Speaking of running backs, Carlos Hyde has been pretty underwhelming through two games so far. When he was initially brought in, it appeared as though he’d be RB2 behind Damien Williams, but after some lackluster preseason performances and with rookie Darwin Thompson looking as good as advertised, could Hyde be on the chopping block?
Between two games so far, Hyde has a total of seven carries for 25 yards, which isn’t exactly earth shattering. Hyde might be playing for his roster spot at this point and if he continues to underwhelm against the Niners, that might be all she wrote for Carlos Hyde in Kansas City.
