The rookie out of Virginia has been making his presence known since showing up in Kansas City. Recently, Thornhill has been taking more and more reps with the first team defense and earning the trust of new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
With Thornhill getting more playing time during the preseason, there has been plenty to see and learn about his play on the field. He has a very good nose for the football and his instincts are off the charts when plays are in motion.
So far this preseason Thornhill has six tackles and a pass deflection with most notable deflection coming against the Steelers when he made a diving stab at the ball knocking it away from the receiver.
Even though his numbers don’t jump out and grab you, his film and play does all the talking for him. His football I.Q. is raising each week and he is looking more like the man to play next to star safety Tyrann Mathieu come week one versus the Jaguars.
