Nebraska Football: Kickoff times announced for five games in 2019
Nebraska football is heading into year two under head coach Scott Frost and there’s a lot to be excited about. Now, Husker fans can plan accordingly, as kickoff times for five games have been announced.
While Nebraska football didn’t get off to a great start last year, the final month of the 2018 season proved that this program is headed in the right direction. Hopefully we see signs of that early on in 2019 and now we know when the games will be televised, at least for five games of the 2019 campaign.
Here are the kickoff times for the first five games on Nebraska’s schedule plus what channel fans can catch these games on (all times central time):
- August 31st – South Alabama – ESPN (11AM)
- September 7th – at Colorado – FOX (2:30PM)
- September 14th – Northern Illinois – FS1 (7:00PM)
- October 5th – Northwestern – TBA (2:30/3:00 PM) HOMECOMING
- November 29th – Iowa – BTN (1:30)
As you can see, the first three games of the year, all non-conference opponents, have been announced as well as two conference games.

The Huskers start their season off against South Alabama for an early game on the final day of August. Nebraska didn’t play their true season opener last year due to weather, so hopefully this year’s game gets played. The last time these two teams met was in 2015, with Nebraska winning it 48-9.
The following week, the Cornhuskers travel to Colorado for a highly anticipated rematch against the Colorado Buffaloes. The Huskers hosted Colorado last year in what ended up being their home opener and lost in an intense game. This game surprisingly isn’t in primetime, but it’s still a late afternoon game.
Ticket prices for this game are absolutely ridiculous right now. Last I checked, the cheapest ticket on Ticketmaster was for $227 and that was for ONE ticket. Crazy!
Nebraska hosts Northern Illinois the following week and this is a team that narrowly escaped Lincoln with a victory during the 2017 season. Nebraska will be anxious to avenge that loss and send the Huskies packing. This is the Huskers’ first primetime game of the season and it’ll be fun to see Lincoln under the lights for Nebraska’s third game.
In the two Big Ten games that have been announced, Nebraska hosts Northwestern for Homecoming in early October and hosts Iowa the day after Thanksgiving. Nebraska lost to both of these teams in 2018.
Set your calendars and plan accordingly for these games, Husker fans. This season has the potential to be a special one.
Go Big Red!
