The KC Chiefs have a lot to be excited for this season, but these three players stepping up their game in 2019 will go a long way toward helping get this franchise to its first Super Bowl since the 1969 season.
Last year, offense was key for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Patrick Mahomes threw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns on his way to winning the MVP award. He couldn’t have done that without the help of his supporting cast.

That supporting cast needs to continue to show up and step up each and every game, but three REALLY need to have good seasons. Those are Cameron Erving, Damien Williams, and Sammy Watkins.
Erving is the only offensive lineman whose starting spot is really up for grabs in 2019. He’s proven to be a reliable swing man along the line, but in a starting role, he’s not nearly as efficient.
Williams had a respectable 2018 season considering what he was asked to do, but he has to take that season and build on it this year. With Carlos Hyde and rookie Darwin Thompson also on the depth chart, Williams doesn’t have to do everything in the run game, but as RB1, he’ll be asked to carry the load.
Last, but not least, there’s Sammy Watkins, who despite the “lower” numbers in 2018, was still a big part of the offense. Watkins’ issue has always been that he’s injury prone and he was banged up quite a bit last season. Hopefully he can stay healthy in 2019 and put up similar numbers to his first two years in the league.
