Putting what the Royals are doing this year on defense we will compare them to what they did in their championship years. Looking at 1985, the Royals had a total of 127 errors. That is less than one error per game. They were 13th over all that year. They were also fifth overall in putouts.

While these statistics do not tell the whole story of why the Royals won that year, they do give a powerful insight on the ways the Royals must excel in if they want a chance at a postseason run.

Looking at the 2015 team, they made all of eighty eighty total outs. Also, they 4,356 putouts. This led to their team being twelfth overall in committing the least amount of errors as well as 11th place in the number of putouts.

This year, the Royals are on pace to best their two championship years. While this great pace may not result in a championship what it will do is create a precedent for future teams when their prized prospects start springing up.

As we look into May, the Royals will need both Brad Keller to make adjustments that will prove he could be a future assist to the Royals. They will need their veterans like Bailey to prove they still have value.

All the while, the Royals will need to keep helping their pitchers by playing solid defense. If the Royals can do this, April showers will definitely spring May wins.
