Kansas City Chiefs: Winners and Losers from 2019 NFL Draft
By Kole Berrey
Winner: Brett Veach
Brett Veach has so far killed this offseason. I have been slow to pile praise onto Veach, as I thought he at times gets too much credit for scouting Mahomes, even though Dorsey orchestrated the trade up in the draft and pulled the trigger on the actual draft pick.

This is the first draft I feel Veach has really cemented his status of savvy NFL GM. He had the best draft that no one is talking about. He made smart trades, didn’t give up a ton of drat capital, made no apparent reaches or head scratching moves and addressed need while also getting value.
He traded up the select a wide receiver tailor made for Patrick Mahomes, landed two impact defenders, took a flier on a potential impact running back, and added a safe, depth offensive linemen in the seventh round.
So far, Veach’s first draft class from last year has been underwhelming. Adding all of these players while also using the first round pick to acquire Frank Clark has me feeling that Veach crushed this draft.
Obviously, we won’t know until these players actually step off the field, but right now, Veach is my big winner of the 2019 NFL Draft.
