Kansas City Chiefs: Targets for Day 3 of 2019 NFL Draft
By Shade Piper
Starting off with cornerback, there are actually still some good prospects available.
Julian Love is one of the more polished cornerbacks in the whole draft. He doesn’t have the elite size or speed that some of the cornerbacks drafted before him, but he has great discipline and skill.
Amani Oruwariye is another good cornerback prospect who, contrary to Love, does have great size and speed as well as grabbing seven interceptions over the past two seasons.
Neither of these first two corners are very likely to make it to the sixth round, however, so here is a more realistic target for the Chiefs: Isaiah Johnson, a cornerback from the University of Houston. Johnson was a wide receiver before converting to cornerback just before his junior season.
He is a pretty raw talent, but has the physical traits to develop into a good cornerback in the NFL. His wide receiver background should translate into great ball skills and the Chiefs’ coaching staff will look to turn his physical traits and raw talents into a more polished NFL cornerback.
