ROUND 2 – PICK 29 (61ST OVERALL)

The Chiefs are constantly going to be linked to cornerbacks this offseason and for good reason. Their cornerback corps weren’t exactly stellar in 2018, so that’s why they go with Julian Love in the second round of this mock draft.

Love, who is forgoing his senior season and entering the draft early, totaled 63 tackles, 16 defended passes, and had one pick as a junior. The Notre Dame corner had a solid year in the Fighting Irish’s secondary and the Chiefs would be lucky to have this kid in their secondary moving forward.

One of the knocks on Love, according to The Draft Network, is that he’s not big or fast. Corners don’t always to be big, but usually they make up for it in speed. That could be a blemish on Love’s record.

Here were some of the pros on Julian Love via The Draft Network,

"From off coverage, uses hands well to re-direct and even jam up a receiver down the field (albeit testing the illegal contact rules). Instincts and anticipation are pluses. Appears to have the long speed to stay on top of receivers. Off-coverage is currently his bread-and-butter."

The Chiefs need help at cornerback and Julian Love could be the long-term answer next to Kendall Fuller. People will say Charvarius Ward did decently as a rookie, but he is not the long-term solution. Love could be the long-term solution in Kansas City.
