In my way too early mock draft, I had the Kansas City Chiefs drafting all defensive players except for one. This time, they split their picks up a little more on the two sides of the ball.

At the end of the day, however, defense was addressed with five of the eight picks while offense was addressed with three selections. At defense, the Chiefs added a defensive lineman, cornerback, safety, edge rusher, and linebacker. On offense, they drafted a tight end, running back, and offensive tackle.

No one would be angry if these positions were what Kansas City drafted come April. The offensive picks were all simply adding depth, as tight end and running back don’t have a ton of that at the moment. The offensive line has some backups, but that’s an area where injuries are aplenty.

As for defense, KC really couldn’t go wrong with whatever positions they choose to focus on. Every area basically needs help and that’s why I took a player at a different position for every single selection.
