CHIEFS WHO MUST STEP UP – SAFETY POSITION

Perhaps no position has performed worse for the Chiefs than the safety position. The absence of Eric Berry has been glaring, as players continue to struggle to line up correctly, miss tackles and drop potential interceptions.

This group will need to step up their game, especially if Berry is unable to play on Saturday, to avoid the game turning into a shoot out.

Colts tight end Eric Ebron had a career year, posting 750 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns on  66 receptions. The Chiefs safeties will have to cover and take him out of the game. To help with this effort, a good pass rush forcing the Colts to leave Ebron in to help block would go along way in helping the safeties help the defense.

It would be a great help if Eric Berry is able to play, as he can make others better around him simply be making sure everyone is lined up correctly and he is a reliable tackler, something the position, and the defense, is missing. It’s hard to count on him until he’s on the field though.

Past that, Eric Murray and Ron Parker and Daniel Sorensen and Jordan Lucas will need to be effective in knocking down passes when and where they can and maybe coming up with a turnover if the opportunity presents itself.
