Mizzou football did a nice job on early Signing Day in 2018, including bringing in a four-star recruit. Let’s hope these new Tigers can come in and make an impact.

Missouri football landed 21 commits (as of this writing) on early Signing Day with one of them being a four-star recruit, according to Rivals.com. That four-star recruit is Jalani Williams, a safety out of St. Louis who weighs in at 6’2″ and 170 pounds.

Williams was considered the fourth best safety in Missouri and the 19th best at the position. He’ll be a welcomed addition to a Mizzou team that takes great pride in its defense, and hopefully the kid will get a chance to prove himself early on.

Overall, Mizzou landed five recruits from St. Louis and two others from the state of Missouri (one from Kirkwood and the other from Columbia, which makes sense).

Jack Buford is another big get from in-state, as the offensive lineman is 6’4″ and 307 pounds. He will be very difficult for opposing defenders to move and with the quarterback transfers the Tigers have gotten in the last two weeks, it’ll be important for Mizzou to protect those guys.

Speaking of quarterbacks, the Tigers added one through early Signing Day: Connor Bazelak out of Dayton, Ohio. Bazelak is considered to be a pro-style quarterback and was the 21st ranked quarterback in the state of Ohio.

Missouri quarterbacks have done well when it comes to getting drafted and sticking around in the NFL, so while Bazelak won’t be taking the snaps any time soon, he will be a nice depth piece on the roster.

Darius Robinson is another impressive name that committed to MU on Wednesday. Robinson is a defensive end out of Canton, Michigan who weighs in at 6’5″ and 264 pounds. Barry Odom has to be pumped at adding Robinson to the defensive ranks.

The Missouri Tigers have a nice set-up at least offensively over the next few years. Kelly Bryant transferred from Clemson and will take the snaps next year while Shawn Robinson of TCU looks to be an option the following two years. Depending on how Bazelak looks, maybe he gets a fair shot at being the starting signal caller as well.

All in all, Missouri did well on early Signing Day. They had the 31st best class according to Rivals.com and did a good job adding players in their own state. It’ll be exciting to see what these youngsters bring to Columbia in the coming years!
