Mizzou football has added two transfer quarterbacks in the last two weeks. The most recent one, Shawn Robinson, is eligible to play for the Tigers in 2020.
A few months ago, questions arose about who would be the next quarterback of Mizzou football after Drew Lock graduates and for good reason. Lock has been the starter over the last three years and will take his final snaps in a Tigers uniform on New Year’s Eve in the Liberty Bowl.
Within the last two weeks, however, the Tigers have added not one, but two quarterbacks to help lead the charge over the next few years.
First was Clemson transfer Kelly Bryant, who will take the reins at quarterback next season. Bryant has just one year of eligibility left, but had an impressive career at Clemson, throwing for 3,333 yards, 16 touchdowns, and ten interceptions. He also rushed for 987 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Bryant won’t be in Columbia long, but no worries. The Tigers got themselves another transfer quarterback on Tuesday, as Shawn Robinson announced that he’d be transferring from TCU and heading to Missouri instead.

Robinson was on pace for a good season with the Horned Frogs this past year, but a shoulder injury sidelined him for the second half of the year. He needed surgery as a result.

In his seven games as a sophomore at TCU, Robinson threw for 1,326 yards, nine touchdowns, and eight interceptions while rushing for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
Robinson has to sit out during the 2019 season due to being an undergrad, but that bodes well for Missouri since they have Kelly Bryant for next year. Robinson can take over the offense in 2020 and would still be eligible to play in 2021 as well, setting the Tigers up for the next three years at the most important position in the sport.
After an 8-4 season with MU ending on a hot streak, the future looks bright for the Tigers moving forward. Having a quarterback is important for any football team and Missouri is set at the position for the next three years.
Not only that, but they have two proven quarterbacks to help them at the position, not an unknown coming in and starting from scratch.
The Tigers couldn’t get the job done with Drew Lock, but the tide might be starting to change for Mizzou football. Good quarterbacks are choosing to play for Barry Odom and Missouri and that’s definitely a positive moving forward.
