PATRICK MAHOMES COULD FALL UNDER ALL THREE CATEGORIES

This loss wasn’t Patrick Mahomes’ fault, but there are things he could have done better. At the same time, however, the guy threw for 478 yards and six touchdowns. Those are big boy numbers.

KC Kingdom staffer Kole Berrey suggested I cover the good, the bad, and the ugly from Mahomes in this game and I think that sounds like a lovely idea, so let’s check that out.

More from KC Kingdom

GOOD

Obviously, the numbers are the good. Throwing for 478 yards and six touchdowns is insane and something Chiefs fans aren’t accustomed to. Mahomes has now thrown for 37 touchdowns and ten interceptions on the year and that wasn’t something we predicted at the beginning of the season.

BAD

This would have to be pocket awareness and we saw that on the two fumbles. Mahomes could have bailed himself out of those plays, but instead, he got rocked and we all know what happened next. Obviously this can be taught and Mahomes will improve, but it wasn’t a good night for him in the pocket awareness department.

UGLY

This is an easy one and it’s turnovers. Mahomes accounted for all five of the Chiefs’ turnovers and in turn, that led to 21 Rams points. Three of those turnovers were interceptions and the two were fumbles.

Even without those turnovers, the game could have still ended up as a Rams win, but if you look at the numbers, that was easily the difference maker. Mahomes can’t make those mistakes again.
