Mizzou Football: Everything clicking offensively for Tigers in win
Mizzou football got back in the win column on Saturday with a 65-33 victory over the Memphis Tigers. MU was able to take control of this game with their electric offense.
After three straight losses, the Missouri Tigers notched their first win since mid September and did so behind a nearly unstoppable offensive effort. This was a game that easily could have been viewed as a trap game, but Missouri put the pedal to the medal early and never looked back.
At one point, it was 21-0 and Memphis slowly roared back to just trailing by four. That’d be the closest the opposing Tigers would get, as MU got it going offensively in the second half and put up a total of 65 points on the day.
After three mediocre to bad games, Drew Lock looked like the first round draft prospect he’s often been labeled as, throwing for 350 yards and four touchdowns. Larry Rountree III absolutely shredded Memphis on the ground with 118 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries. Three of his nine carries went for touchdowns.

Tight end Albert Okwuegbunam continued to increase his future draft stock with an amazing game, totaling six receptions for 159 yards and three touchdowns. Jalen Knox also had a big game with five catches for 104 yards and a score.
The Missouri defense was a bit vulnerable, but they had their bright spots too. The hometown Tigers had three sacks and also recorded two interceptions. They surrendered just 208 yards through the air, but did get exposed on the ground, allowing 200 yards to a very good Memphis run game.
While this blowout win was good for Missouri, things will go right back to being difficult. The Tigers host Kentucky (currently ranked 14th in the nation) next weekend and then travel to Gainesville the following week for a date with the 11th ranked Florida Gators. Yeah, the SEC is no joke this year.
The good news, however, is after those two tough games, things lighten up for Mizzou’s final three games. They’ll have Vanderbilt at home, Tennessee on the road, and host Arkansas to finish out the year. That opens things up for the Tigers to make it to a bowl game for the second straight year.
Missouri’s offense had been disappointing over the last month, but we saw on Saturday what they’re capable of doing to opposing defenses still. This is an electric offense who can score at any moment and they now have to continue doing so against good opponents.
