Kansas State Football: Schedule announced for 2019 season
Kansas State football is on a bye this week, but their 2019 schedule has been released with opponents, dates, and locations. What games stand out for the Wildcats next year?
This season hasn’t gone according to plan for Kansas State football, but as we often hear in sports, “There’s always next year!”. That’s precisely the case for K-State and to jumpstart things, their 2019 schedule has already been released.
Here is what the 2019 schedule entails for Kansas State:
- Nicholls State – August 31st
- Bowling Green – September 7th
- at Mississippi State – September 14th
- at Oklahoma State – September 28th
- Baylor – October 5th
- TCU – October 17th (Thursday)
- Oklahoma – October 26th
- at Kansas – November 2nd
- at Texas – November 9th
- West Virginia – November 16th
- at Texas Tech – November 23rd
- Iowa State – November 30th
Obviously the game that stands out at first glance is the Thursday night game versus TCU. The Wildcats haven’t played on a Thursday night since the 2015 season when Jake Waters was still taking snaps in Manhattan.

That game will be an intriguing one, as TCU is normally ranked year in and year out, and that game will obviously have a lot of purple in the stands. K-State has 12 days off from their game against Baylor until that TCU game, which is more than fair.
As for the non-conference opponents, Kansas State will host a Nicholls State team that knocked off the Kansas Jayhawks in overtime in this current season. While Kansas is a much lesser football program than K-State, Nicholls State is no slouch and that’s not going to be a cakewalk season opener.
With how poorly the Wildcats played in their home opener this season, all bets are off when it comes to non-conference opponents. The following week, they’ll get a fiery Bowling Green team in Manhattan. They’ll then close out non-conference play with a trip to Mississippi State, who walloped the Cats in the Little Apple this year.
Big 12 teams all play each other every year, so Kansas State will see its same conference opponents as it has the past few years. The Sunflower Showdown comes in the middle of the season and it’ll take place in Lawrence this go around.
This offseason could be a big one for Kansas State football. Bill Snyder might have inked an extension a few months back, but will that guarantee him to be on the sidelines in 2019 and beyond? Hopefully he continues coaching because he gives Kansas State the best chance to win.
