KC Chiefs: Injuries may end perfect record with trip to New England
By Mike Norris
The Chiefs could certainly win this game as they have shown they can play with anyone after winning on the road in San Diego, Denver and Pittsburgh.
However, if you give Brady an inch he’ll take a mile, and in this case if your 22-man starting lineup consists of multiple backups, he will find a way to have a big game.
Kansas City still possesses the best young quarterback in the league in Patrick Mahomes, who was six when Brady won his first Super Bowl. Even with an amazing arsenal of offensive weapons — which on Friday the Chiefs announced won’t include back up wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas — will it be enough to bring a sixth “W” back home to Kansas City.

The short answer? No.
Brady’s 1,259 passing yards rank just 19th in the league, and his overall passer rating is 13th per ESPN.com, but he is tied for third in touchdown passes with 12. His rankings are most likely down because outside of All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski, Brady’s offensive skill players more resemble that of a college intramural team than an NFL squad.
The fact he has thrown so many touchdowns is a testament to his talent. He also has receiver Julian Edelman playing in his second game back from a suspension after hauling in seven passes for 57 yards last week in a 38-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
The offense and playing at home on prime time should be enough for a less-than-usual talented Patriots to pick apart a Chiefs defense still ranked dead last in the league in yards allowed per game.
Belichick also has had extra time to prepare for this game as the win versus the Colts came on Thursday Night Football.
His team has lost both road games this year, but outscored opponents 103-51 in three game at Gillette, which happens to be where they are playing on Sunday.
The Chiefs will have the better overall season, don’t look for a win on Sunday. However, Reid and his guys should keep it close because Mahomes Magic is real, and one day, Brady may have to pass on the GOAT title to the Chiefs’ franchise quarterback.
Prediction: New England 34, Kansas City 30.
