Kansas Basketball rarely jas a tough time bringing highly touted recruits to Lawrence, Kansas. James Wiseman is the No.1 prospect ranked by ESPN.

As of now, Kansas Basketball has a total number of zero recruits committed for 2019. Fear, not Jayhawks fans, that will change in the coming months.

As we did last season, we will be introducing you to potential prospects throughout the basketball season, and revisiting those when they make their announcement.

The Jayhawks actually have one less commit than they did earlier in the season, which is common when a team is as deep as Kansas is currently. Markese Jacobs withdrew his commitment a couple months ago.

Our first installment for the 2019 recruiting class is the No.1 ranked player by ESPN and No. 2 according to Rivals. He’s seven-footer James Wiseman.

Wiseman comes from Memphis East High School, where he is being heavily recruited by the Jayhawks, Kentucky, Vandy, Memphis, and Florida State.

The Jayhawks will be looking to shore up their depth below the basket after this season with Udoka Azubuike likely gone. There’s also a chance that Silvio De Sousa could be gone as well with the ongoing Adidas investigation. This leaves Mitch Lightfoot and David McCormack for 2019.

The kid lives above the rim. He is extremely agile and athletic for a seven-footer. Besides getting massive rebounds and epic putbacks, he literally soars through the air.

His ball-handling skills are nice for his position. He finds the ball easily on defense and has the tools to find open teammates from down low. This is huge since Bill Self tends to like the inside-out game.

The little thing that jumps out at you, however, is his shooting ability. Whether it’s a 12-foot jumper or at the top of the key, he can knock down some shots. Better than any of the big men currently on the Jayhawks roster.

Having a big man that can shoot is a win for any team. Wiseman is and should be the top target for Self, despite needing perimeter players, a kid with his skillset creates open shots for his teammates.

As seen in the video above, the traits he possesses are second to none.

to is currently projected to go to either Kentucky or Memphis, but those predictions are just that, projections.
