The Kansas City Chiefs host the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday and two All-Pro players, one from each side, have been going at each other this week. Now we’ll get to see them go at it on the gridiron.

The 4-0 Kansas City Chiefs return home to Arrowhead Stadium and will welcome in the 3-1 Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday for a noon kickoff. While this game is already getting a lot of buzz due to it being one of the best offenses in the Chiefs facing one of the best defenses in the Jaguars, there’s now an additional storyline that’s getting people amped up for this game.

Chiefs number one wide receiver Tyreek Hill was asked about Jaguars All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey earlier this week and responded with mostly complimentary words. Hill was quoted as saying (quotes courtesy of Bleacher Report),

"“He’s all right, I guess,” Hill continued, per Teicher. “I can’t wait to line up against him. I hope he presses me. He’s a great player. To get my name out there more, I need to go up against more talent like him."

Ramsey responded on Thursday with some fiery trash talk for Hill, mainly pointing out that the Chiefs wideout might be an All-Pro, but not at the position in which is in question this week.

"“He’s good for what he does for their team,” Ramsey told reporters Thursday. “He made All-Pro as a return specialist—let’s get that right, a return specialist—his rookie year. He went to two Pro Bowls as a return specialist. I made All-Pro in my position as a corner, and the Pro Bowl at my position as a corner. So it’s not a wide receiver vs. corner matchup.”"

Ramsey isn’t lying there. Hill is an All-Pro return specialist, but we’ve all seen him round the corner into becoming an electric receiver this season, especially with new quarterback Patrick Mahomes throwing to him. Hill was slowed down a bit last week, but for the most part, has been unstoppable for the Chiefs.

Ramsey, on the other hand, is arguably the best corner in the game right now. He, like Hill, is in his third year as an NFL pro and has been at the top of his game since entering the league in 2016. Ramsey was the fifth overall pick that year while Hill was a fifth round pick by the Chiefs in the same draft.

Both guys are fun to watch. Hill has electric speed that rarely can be matched, but Ramsey is just so good at defending against the pass and knocking away the ball. He’s yet to record an interception this season and Mahomes has yet to throw an interception this season. Could both of those numbers change on Sunday?

We all know that Mahomes will be looking Hill’s way, but at the same time, he doesn’t HAVE to. He has plenty of other weapons and if Hill is covered, let Ramsey win that battle. No need to force anything.

Hill has been a dominant force in the NFL and can absolutely take over a game if not covered. Ramsey is going to be a tough test for him and could perhaps be one of the few corners to limit his production.

It’ll be fun seeing Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey, two of the best talents in the game at their respective positions, go toe-to-toe this weekend in Kansas City. Hopefully Hill gets the best of Ramsey, but not many receivers have been able to say that since the Jaguars corner got to the pros.

These type of rivalries are what makes football fun. Let’s hope the on-field battle lives up to all the hype this week.
