Kansas Basketball is just 25 days away from their first exhibition game with Emporia State, and they look primed to win their 15th straight Big 12 title.

Late Night in the Phog means a lot to Kansas Basketball fans, for many reasons. For one, it’s a first look into what the Jayhawks will be putting on the court for the upcoming season.

Late Night provides a unique spectacle for fans, as their are plenty of dance-offs, parodies, music, etc. It’s a popular destination time for possible incoming recruits as well, which serves as the backbone to this organization.

More importantly, it means basketball season is very near. It’s the green flag to get hyped about the upcoming season, new roster additions, more trophies, more rings, and a winning tradition.

This season could be very special for Kansas. As seen at Late Night during the scrimmage, this squad is extremely deep, to a very congested level.

Incoming freshmen Quentin Grimes, Devon Dotson, David McCormack, Ochai Agbaji, Elijah Elliott, and Garrett Luinstra are all new, fresh faces.

Incoming transfers finally get to contribute after sitting out last season per NCAA rules. Dedric Lawson, KJ Lawson, and Charlie Moore get to showcase their stuff, finally.

Returning starters Lagerald Vick and Udoka Azubuike will be even better clones of previous seasons.

Role players such as Marcus Garrett, Mitch Lightfoot, and Silvio De Sousa will have their roles expanded as they continue to get better. Don’t forget about Chris Teahan other, who will be back heaving three-pointers during garbage time.

That’s a whopping 15 guys. 10 of those 15 could be starting anywhere in the country, giving the Jayhawks something they have not had the pleasure of having, depth.

There is plenty for the Jayhawks to improve on before the season starts. Three-point shooting still needs to be evaluated from a sense of where our scoring will come from. So does shooting from the charity mark.

This is what we do know. The Jayhawks will be tough inside, both offensively and defensively. The mid-range shot will be lethal, and the defense will be stout.

Vick has an opportunity to be a leader during his senior year. Dedric Lawson is among those players across the nation involved in Player of the Year conversations. Grimes has the potential to be the top freshman in 2018 as well.

A 15th straight Big 12 title looks to be a very reasonable goal for this young, unknown squad. National title implications surround Lawrence, Kansas as well.

It’s going to be one heck of a ride for Kansas Basketball fans. Bill Self should have as much fun with this squad than aanyoneprevious, and it should show on the court.
