Three games into the 2018 season, Nebraska Football has continued to look worse as each week passes. Can Scott Frost salvage his maiden voyage?

Nebraska Football has been a major disappointment so far. Many Husker fans thought things would get exciting in Lincoln this year, so far it’s been hard to watch.

In a series by cbssports.com, Nebraska finds themselves ranked 2nd nationally in the bottom 25 rankings. Sandwiched between UTEP(1) and San Jose State(3).

The Huskers are one of four winless teams in the nation. There are still 21 undefeated teams.

Even after the opening loss against Colorado, it appeared as though Nebraska was going to be quite competitive under new head coach Scott Frost. So far, that team in week one has disappeared.

The only good thing to happen to the Huskers so far this season was having a game canceled due to Hurricane Florence. Granted, Frost may not feel the pressure right now, being a hometown name, but his Huskers look pretty bad.

At this point last year Nebraska was 2-2 on their way to a losing record. The season may be salvageable, not necessarily because of the Huskers going through some kind of divine intervention, but because the Big 10 is weak besides a couple teams like Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Frost eating his words

A couple days ago, coach Frost made a statement he now wishes he hadn’t made.

After his Huskers refused to show up at home against Michigan, Frost let some verbiage slip his tongue that was heard loud and clear from this Saturday’s opponent.

"We get a game we can win next week."

Purdue’s head coach replied, saying that what is said is heard, and mentioning that he’s used this as a tool to prepare his team.

Purdue won their first game of the season last week against then-ranked Boston College.

One might say it isn’t smart to talk smack if you haven’t won a game yet. One may also say that Frost was merely getting his team prepared for the next game, which is probably accurate.

Frost tried to calm the waters after Purdue responded, saying that Jeff Brohm was one of the best coaches in the country.
