Kansas State Football: West Virginia is a statement game
By Chris Taylor
Kansas State Football has not been impressive so far in 2018. A win in Morgantown would give Wildcat fans hope for a turnaround this season.
The game against UTSA might have been huge for the confidence of the 2018 Kansas State Football program.
Although UTSA is nowhere near the quality of the program that the Wildcats have, Kansas State needed a good looking win after the first two weeks of the season.
Kansas State looked pretty bad against South Dakota in week one, and they looked completely out of their element against Mississippi State.

Skylar Thompson had struggled during the first games. He had yet to throw for more than 100 yards in either game, totaling 147 yards in the air.
The Wildcats need Thompson to step up in a huge way if they look to contend in what looks like another strong Big 12. If he looks anything like what he did against UTSA, when he threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns, Kansas State has a chance to keep up.
So far, Alex Barnes has been little help in contributing to the success of the offense. Over three games he has rushed for a mere 228 yards. In fact, his season has gotten worse as each week comes and goes.
Barnes has gone from 103 yards to 75, and 50 so far in 2018. Once expected to be a rock for this offense, he’s been more like quicksand.
This brings us to this weeks battle in Morgantown. West Virginia has a high flying combo between quarterback Will Grier and David Sills. Both of these guys are on national watch lists.
The No.12 ranked Mountaineers have yet to have a close game. They also haven’t played since September 8th with their game against NC State postponed due to Hurricane Florence.
The time West Virginia has gone without playing football is an awfully long period. This could play into the Wildcats favor.
This game shouldn’t be close, not anywhere near close. That’s why I’d take the Wildcats to cover here if I was a gambling man.
The Wildcats have the potential toake a statement here. Whichever statement it may be.
After Morgantown, the world should know whether or not Kansas State Football is a pretender or a contender.
