Mizzou football hasn’t started off 3-0 since 2015, which was Lock’s freshman year at Missouri. They’ll look to start off 4-0 for the first time since 2013, but it won’t come easy.

If MU wants to be 4-0 for the first time in half a decade, they’ll have to do so against the second best team in the country. The Georgia Bulldogs made it all the way to the title game last year and even though they lost in that game, they gave Alabama all they had.

If Mizzou plays how they did against ranked opponents last year, then they’re going to get destroyed by Georgia this weekend. If, however, Lock can play as well as he has these first three weeks and hit receivers down the field and if the running game gets going, then the Tigers absolutely have a shot in this game.

The biggest worry from a week ago was easily the passing defense, which allowed the Purdue quarterback to look like a Heisman candidate. Before that, the Boilermaker quarterback had struggled to move the football, but he did so with ease against Missouri. That can’t happen if the Tigers want to compete in this game.

Mizzou football has the advantage this weekend with the game being in Columbia, but that hasn’t stopped the Bulldogs from beating MU before. Georgia won 34-0 in Columbia in 2014 and narrowly escaped with a 28-27 victory in 2016.

One would think it’d be the Tigers’ turn to take one from the Bulldogs, but beating the second ranked team in the country is going to require Mizzou to play a damn near perfect game. Lock can’t throw any picks, there can’t be any fumbles, and the defense has to make sure they force some turnovers of their own.

If Missouri can take care of the football and put pressure on the Georgia quarterbacks, there’s no reason why they can’t win this game.
