Kansas State Football: Wildcats need to win big vs UTSA
By Chris Taylor
To say that Kansas State Football looks mediocre so far in 2018 is quite the knock on mediocrity. The Wildcats must perform well against UTSA.
Being wrong as a sports analyst is just part of the business. Being completely and utterly wrong about Kansas State Football in 2018 hurts a little.
Earlier in the offseason, I wrote on how the Wildcats would challenge Oklahoma for the Big 12 title. Talk about a hot take gone wrong.
Through just two games, the Wildcats have looked like the worst team in the Big 12 Conference. Now, looking and being are two different things. It is hard to ignore the pitifulness that has been Kansas State Football.

Once considered one of the top running backs in college football, Alex Barnes has become nothing more than a liability so far.
It turns out that the reason the Wildcats couldn’t decide on a quarterback wasn’t that they were both so good, but apparently, the opposite. Neither Skylar Thompson nor Alex Delton looks like division 1 quarterbacks.
The defense looks worse than many imagined it would look. The offensive line looks like a bunch of freshmen lining up rather than one of the more experienced lines in the country.
Even Bill Snyder looks to have lost a bit of his team, dare I say. How dare I say that. I’m sorry Bill.
South Dakota almost bit the Cats in week one. The all-mighty run of the mill Bulldogs of Mississippi State made Kansas State look even worse. With conference games right around the corner, this game against UTSA is vitally important for Snyder and the Wildcats.
Something positive must be gained for this team before conference play. A lack of confidence against West Virginia, TCU, or Oklahoma won’t help them with any upsets this season.
Kansas State looks bad. Some even go as far as saying they may not be the best team in Kansas anymore, which is a bit of a stretch, as of now.
The Wildcats do look pretty awful, but the keyword is look. These Cats are not awful, but they must find their inner fight, and quick. If Kansas State struggles against UTSA, then there will be plenty of questions that need to be answered going forward.
