Nebraska Football found themselves on the wrong end of an amazing game against old Big 8 and Big 12 conference foe, Colorado.
The 2018 season for Nebraska Football was pushed back a week thanks to Mother Nature. The season didn’t start the way Scott Frost and the Husker faithful had wanted, but there were positives to take away from Saturday afternoon.
Long-time rivals Nebraska and Colorado figured to be quite a contest, and it sure did not disappoint. Colorado came out of the gate running on all cylinders. They scored 14 straight points to open the game before Nebraska scored 21 straight to take the lead.

The Huskers managed to stay ahead for the remainder of the game until 1:06 left in the game. Lavishka Shenault Jr caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Steven Montez, putting Colorado ahead 33-28.
Andrew Bunch, the backup quarterback for the Huskers, gave a valiant effort pushing Nebraska down the field, completing passes of 14, 4, 25, and 6 yards. Once the Huskers got to Colorado’s 20-yard-line, Bunch through three straight incomplete passes until time ran out.
Bunch was on the field because of an injured knee suffered by Adrian Martinez earlier in the fourth quarter. It is uncertain how serious the injury is, but it didn’t look good.
Martinez was the first true freshman to start for Nebraska and looked pretty good before going down. He finished with 187 yards through the air and 117 yards on the ground, both on 15 attempts. He did throw an interception late but threw a nice 57 yarder for a score as well. Martinez scored two touchdowns on the ground, including a 41-yard run.
Nebraska owned one of the worst defenses in college football in 2017, and that defense looked much better, even allowing 33 points. Nebraska had 14 sacks all of last season, they had seven against Colorado.
Scott Frost didn’t get the win, but he seems to have Nebraska competitive once again. He also had some fun.
"For three quarters I was having about as much fun as I have ever had in my life, doing it back home. we’ve got to learn lessons to be able to win games like that. When you’re trying to become a good team, you don’t find ways to lose games, especially close ones. You find ways to win them."
The bright side of this loss for Husker fans is this. Nebraska Football seems very relevant. They seem fun to watch. They seem competitive.
Scott Frost was the right hire. It won’t be long before Nebraska is back in the national conversations.
