The Kansas Jayhawks Football team looks to be headed down the same path as the previous three years under David Beaty, a path to absolutely nowhere.

Kansas Jayhawks Football. That’s it, no punchline, just muttering those words causes a slightly uncomfortable grin. The Jayhawks have basically reached such a low point that people who aren’t fans of the team are rooting for them to win. It’s sad.

Nicholls State is the latest mid-major or lower nobody to bully Beaty and his Jayhawks. The words of Nicholls coach Tim Rebowe after the game simply resonate in one’s ear.

"Big win for the football program, for the school, for the whole community. I told the guys i’m always proud of them, but I’ve never been more proud of them than tonight. It’s a group of guys who believe."

These are words spoken after a football team beat the University of Kansas, at football. This speaks volumes as to how bad this loss is for Kansas. Doesn’t it.

Peyton Bender didn’t look too bad in this one, which gives a smidgen of hope this season. He completed 19/35 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns. He did lose a fumble.

The only other good statistical performance came from linebacker Joe Dineen Jr, who racked up 16 total tackles.

An FCS team coming into Lawrence and winning is an embarrassment. The excuses have got to be running dry for coach Beaty, who has yet to give anyone even a slim reason to want him to stay around.

So when is enough, enough? My opinion, that train sailed long ago. The longer the school allows Beaty to screw up this program, and even more so, screw up these kids, the longer it will take any coach worth his salt to fix.

The Jayhawks travel to Central Michigan next week, as another bottom tier team makes Kansas look like they belong in a flag football league.

These kids want to play football, they want to win. Having Beaty on the sidelines will never give these kids what they deserve. There is absolutely no reason for this disease to continue any longer. Give coach Self the whistle and let him have a shot, let me have a shot. The results would be no worse than what the school is forcing us to deal with.

Tune in next week for another rant, as the Jayhawks provide job security to everyone that covers them. Look for possible Beaty replacement articles to overpower anything worth value with the Jayhawks.
