Historically, the third year for a receiver is a breakout year. For Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill, he now has a quarterback built to throw his direction.

Tyreek Hill has taken the NFL by storm since coming into the league in 2016. The fifth-round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs has punished the entire league for overlooking him the first four rounds.

Hill came into the league as a running back and a return specialist. His transition to receiver was the best move of his career.

Historically, the third year is a huge one for receivers. Hill has technically been a full-time receiver since just last season, however. The fastest man in the NFL has had no problems from defenders, who simply can’t keep up. Hill’s third season should follow suit and be his best season to date.

Patrick Mahomes will be throwing the ball this season. As good as Alex Smith was, and as good as the connection he had with Hill, nothing comes close to what Mahomes can do for Hill’s career, and vice versa. Under Smith, Hill caught 136 passes for 1,776 yards and 13 touchdowns. Last season he broke 1,000 yards with Alex at quarterback. There is a chance he gets to a 1,000 by the bye week.

Simple science and mathematics suggest that if you take the leagues fastest man and the leagues strongest arm, great things happen. The whole world caught a glimpse of that potential in the second preseason game in Atlanta with the play simply called “the throw”.

Tyreek Hill can do things no other receiver in the league can do. The one thing, in particular, is the ability to not be caught. When he gets in front of you, he leaves you. That’s a great weapon to have if you’re a quarterback. For Hill, he has a cannon throwing his way.

The greatest weapon a quarterback that can throw farther than everyone else is a receiver that can get down the field quicker than everyone else. That is exactly what the Chiefs have.

Hill could have a Hall of Fame career with Mahomes as his quarterback. The great thing about this matchup is that it’s still very young. Their whole career should be nothing less than spectacular on a grand scale.

The match made in heaven has unlimited potential as to what they could do. Hill’s route running has gotten crisper, his hands are on the brink of being elite, and his legs move faster than everyone.

Tyreek Hill could break many records this season. His supporting cast is as good as it gets, and if they take care of their own opportunities, Hill can take advantage in a big way.
