The Kansas City Chiefs defense will have its work cut out for them this season with the quarterbacks on their schedule.

While the Kansas City Chiefs have a new quarterback taking snaps for them, that doesn’t mean the quarterbacks they’ll be facing this year will be any easier. In their division alone, they’ll square off against Derek Carr, Case Keenum, and Philip Rivers six times total.

Carr hasn’t been great against the Chiefs, winning just two games against them during his four-year career, not to mention he’s still winless at Arrowhead Stadium. Carr had a great 2016 campaign, but came crashing back down to Earth in 2017. He looked straight up awful in the Chiefs and Raiders’ second meeting at Arrowhead.

Keenum is the new signal caller in Denver after they opted to move on from Trevor Siemian and don’t seem convinced that Paxton Lynch is the answer. Keenum has always been a journeyman during his NFL career, but his top notch 2017 stats in Minnesota got him the contract he has now with the Broncos.

Rivers always puts up a fight against the Chiefs, but he’s been turnover prone against them a lot lately. Last year he threw just ten interceptions all season and six of them came against the Kansas City Chiefs defense.

As for the rest of the AFC portion of the schedule, the Chiefs will face these guys:

Obviously Brady and Roethlisberger stick out the most on there. Brady hasn’t been all that successful against the Chiefs in recent years, but he’s still arguably the best quarterback in NFL history, so Chiefs fans should know not to take him lightly.

Roethlisberger has had Kansas City’s number pretty much for the duration of his career. He’s yet to lose to the Chiefs when he played the entire game and continues to be a headache for Chiefs Kingdom.

Dalton is a decent quarterback, but not intimidating in the least bit. Flacco is past his prime, which was indicated by the Ravens drafting Lamar Jackson in the first round this year. The Browns took Baker Mayfield number one overall, but it’s possible that Tyrod Taylor will get some starts in Cleveland.

The Jaguars will be a difficult opponent this year, but not because of Blake Bortles. Yes, he’s had some good games, but for the most part, Bortles is mediocre.

The Chiefs will also play against the NFC West this year, meaning they’ll have to stop Sam Bradford/Josh Rosen, Jimmy Garoppolo, Jared Goff, and Russell Wilson. The Cardinals have the most interesting situation, as they have three able guys at quarterback in Sam Bradford, Mike Glennon, and Josh Rosen. Bradford will probably be the starter at the start of the year, but Rosen is their hopeful franchise quarterback.

Garoppolo was traded to the 49ers last season and did great things in San Francisco in his inaugural season. A lot of people will pick the 49ers as a playoff team this season and all of that is due to Jimmy Garoppolo.

Goff will be heading into year three for the Rams. He had a rough rookie campaign, but bounced back tremendously in year two, leading the Rams to a playoff appearance. The hope in LA is that Goff continues to improve, but it wouldn’t be shocking if he regressed a bit.

Lastly, Russell Wilson, who the Chiefs are 1-0 against during his time in the league. Wilson is a great player, but Seattle no longer has the defense they once had, so he’ll be carrying the load for them a lot more now. Wilson is a threat through both the air and on the ground.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a new, young quarterback of their own, but they’re going to have a tough slate of signal callers in 2018. Hopefully the defense can put pressure on these guys and not let them put up yards or scores on them.
