The biggest question mark for Kansas State Football is the state of the defense. What once was a strong point for the Wildcats will look quite new in 2018.

The Big 12 Conference isn’t known for its defense. That being said, Kansas State Football has consistently put one of the better defenses in the conference on the field in past years.

This season will be quite different, at least for expectations. Under new coordinator Blake Seiler, who has been on the staff for a decade primarily coaching the linebackers, he will have to put his best coaching on display yet for the Kansas State Football team.

Seiler had made a name for himself coaching the linebackers. The second line of defense has been one of the constant bright sides for the Wildcats. Now the entire defense is his.

There are a lot of new faces on the defensive side of the ball this season. Bill Snyder has praised many for their efforts so far, and some of the guys made some pretty good plays during the spring game, but time will tell how the defense stands against powerhouse offenses like Oklahoma and TCU.

As coach Snyder and his staff prepare for another season, the roster is slowly taking shape. This team should have no problem hanging with the big dogs of the Big 12, in fact, by seasons end the Wildcats could be in that big dog discussion.

The Wildcats will be shooting for their ninth straight bowl appearance this season and will be looking to jump back into the top 25. They haven’t finished better than third but once since they won the conference in 2012.

College football is a little more than a month away, so it’s time to get familiar with your team. There will be a healthy mix of household names as well as some new faces this season. We start with the defensive line.
