Kansas State Football has had some pretty good quarterbacks come through Manhattan. Here we will take an in-depth look at both the 2018 recruits.

Bill Snyder has built himself a dynasty in Manhattan, Kansas. Even though the championship trophies aren’t flooding the mantel for Kansas State Football, the amount of success and the level of a turnaround, twice, has good Karma on its side.

Good Karma could come in the form of one the two young guys at quarterback. Snyder has yet to make a decision on which signal caller will take the first snap of 2018, but all the signs are pointing to a multi-quarterback system for Kansas State Football.

The Wildcats are bringing back a lot of talent on both sides of the ball and should make another push to win the Big12, or at the very least, give some tough games to some major opponents.

Skylar Thompson looked to be the man of the future when we first saw him last September.  Through no fault of his own, Alex Delton is making a serious push to take the quarterback job away, outright.

Thompson wowed Wildcat faithful with his performance against Oklahoma Ste last season. He scored four touchdowns, three of which were through the air. His lowlight came the week before, against West Virginia.

His numbers over eight games played aren’t very impressive by themselves. He is a good running quarterback who has the ability to throw the ball fairly accurately, however. He steps up and has natural leadership abilities in the huddle.

Delton, on the other hand, has the ability to break open a game with his feet. Twice last season he ran for over 140 yards and 3 touchdowns. He has an ugly spiral when throwing the pigskin around, but he is definitely dangerous on the ground.

It is yet to be seen if Alex can really heave the ball downfield or not. Delton appears to be a one-dimensional threat for the Wildcats. If he had the passing capabilities of Thompson, he would have been named this seasons starter, last season. Delton did impress with the big bowl win against UCLA, Which was one of his better statistical games.

The biggest reason the Wildcats don’t have a QB, the two opponents up for the job need what the other guy possesses. Delton needs to become more comfortable throwing. Thompson needs to run like Delton.

A decision needs to be made, and soon. Although a two-quarterback system is looking more and more like what the Wildcats need to do.

An early prediction would be that Thompson wins the gig early on, but Delton finishes the season.
