Kansas Basketball has had a ton of talent come through Allen Fieldhouse. Few stick around for their senior year, these 10 are the best under Bill Self.

It is a rare occasion when star players stay in college for the whole tenure. Kansas Basketball is no different than anywhere else with the age of one and done players.

Guys like Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embid are names fresh on everyone’s mind, but they will never be considered some of the all-time greats for Kansas Basketball because they simply weren’t around long enough.

The senior athlete is becoming a thing of the past, at least when you consider the best of the best. Very few of the best athletes last four years at college. The money and fame of the NBA drive a hard bargain.

It’s the senior player on the team that the fans know the best. The senior guys are more appreciated for continuing to grind it out. This isn’t a knock on one and done guys, but quite frankly they were here, then they weren’t. No matter how big of a name they may have at the next level, at Kansas, they are just a flash in the pan.

At a school like Kansas, where the fans are some of the greatest in the world, seniors mean everything to them. If you’ve ever seen the film after the buzzer on a senior night, it’s quite a spectacle.

Sometimes senior night only consists of role players or walk-ons, but even then the response from the crowd is comparable to that of a senior night filled with starters saying their goodbyes.

The best of the best when it comes to seniors are part of the very foundation of Kansas University. Their names are often somewhere in the record books, somewhere in the all-time rankings with players that have come before them.

This list is comprised of the top ten players that stayed in school and left their mark under Bill Self. To make the list you simply had to be a valid contributor and have played for Bill Self the entire four years. This leaves off some fairly big names such as Keith Langford, Aaron Miles, and Wayne Simien, all of whom played for both Self and Roy Williams.

We start the list with the 10th spot and move to the 1st spot. All statistics and award references in this article come from sports-reference.com and kuathletics.com.
