Sammy Watkins

When the Kansas City Chiefs hauled in wide receiver Sammy Watkins onto their roster, the other 31 teams in the NFL probably gave the Chiefs plenty of more respect. Watkins may have had an inconsistent first few seasons in the NFL, but the potential is still evident.

This young wide receiver adds just another weapon for Mahomes to play around with. I don’t know about you, but holy cow, I am totally excited for this offense.

Watkins looks to make a name for himself in Kansas City, and provide reliable contributions. I’d say with Mahomes behind center, Watkins will do just fine in a Kansas City Chiefs uniform.

My level of excitment for Sammy Watkins: 10/10

Xavier Williams

With the defense of the 2017 team struggling, Veach went out and signed the big nose tackle in Xavier Williams. Williams adds depth to the thin nose tackle depth chart. This is a name that should help reboot the defense, and create a pass rushing threat on the defensive line.

Williams may not be the long-term answer to the lack of nose tackle depth, but it gets the team going in the right direction. He is a 6 foot 2 inch wrecking ball weight just above 300 pounds. If that doesn’t amp you up a little bit about the new look on defense, I do not know what will.

Williams is currently on his fourth year in the league, with three other years spent at the Arizona Cardinals. While with the Cardinals, he totaled for 22 tackles, .5 sacks, and 6 assists on tackles. Probably not the most dominant numbers, but hey, it’s better than nothing.

My excitement for Williams: 6/10

The 2018 draft class

Veach selected six total players in the 2018 NFL Draft. Each of these players may be a major part in creating a new mold on the defensive side of the football, with regards to Kahlil McKenzie.

Though Veach drafted six total players, I see three of them that will make noise this season – Breeland Speaks, Derrick Nnadi, and Armani Watts. These three players have what it takes to fit in right away and get their NFL careers going in the right direction.

Speaks has the size, and has the opportunity to play due to the lack of depth in front of him. Nnadi also has the size, and also has little competition above him, aside from Williams. Watts does have some players ahead of him that might fight him for playing time, but with Watts’ capabilities on the gridiron – anything is possible with this guy.

My excitement for this draft class: 9/10
