The second Kansas City Chiefs player to be named to the NFL Top 100 list is Kareem Hunt. Hunt had a historic rookie season and his peers took notice.

According to his peers, Kareem Hunt is the 33rd best player in the NFL. Seven spots after his teammate Tyreek Hill was selected, the Kansas City Chiefs running back made his debut on the NFL Top 100 list.

The Kansas City Chiefs found a diamond in the rough during the 3rd round of last years draft, selecting Kareem Hunt with the 86th overall pick. His first carry in the NFL resulted in a fumble. It was his only fumble of the season.

His 246 total yards were the most ever by a player in his NFL debut, according to nfl.com. He led all rookies in scrimmage yards with 1,782 and led the league in rushing yards as a rookie. It was the second year in a row that a rookie led the league. Ezekial Elliott did so in 2016.

After Spencer Ware went down in the preseason, the starting job was given to Hunt, who took it, ran with it and kept running.

More from KC Kingdom

Hunt is the latest in a long run of phenom backs that Kansas City has had the pleasure of having, and if his rookie season is a sign of things to come, he may be the best of the bunch.

Hunt has the trifecta that some teams search and search for. He can make defenders miss, he can run defenders over, and he can catch the ball out of the backfield. If he manages to keep up the pace, he has the chance to have a Hall of Fame career.

The combination of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and Hunt is a four-headed monster that could very well dominate the NFL for years to come.

Hunt should improve his numbers in 2018 with Mahomes at quarterback, simply because defenses will not be stacking the box as they did in 2017. There are no defenses that will be brave enough to double team any of the Chiefs weapons.

Kareem Hunt has the right mindset to become one of the all-time greats in the league, and he’s on the right team to do so.

If Hunt and company live up to the hype, the odds of Kansas City not only reaching a Super Bowl but winning one will be great. The rest of the AFC West has a lot of work to do to catch up to Kansas City’s offense.

Hunt more than deserves the 33rd spot on this list, and with another season equal to if not better than his rookie campaign, he will only climb the ladder.
