A sophomore season of continued greatness and the unknown

Kareem Hunt had an incredible rookie season. No running back had more yards than Hunt in 2017, and despite a new system being put in place for 2018, he should have an even better one his second time around.

Last season teams didn’t respect the pass like they will have to this season. Even if Mahomes struggles, the defenses will have to respect his arm. This means fewer defenders in the box, which means wider lanes to run through.

There may not be as many rushes involved, but Hunt’s overall stats should see a climb in numbers. Hunt is the x-factor that makes the Mahomes transition so exciting. Defenses won’t be able to decide which offensive weapon t key on, and double teams will be a thing of the past.

As naysayers like to remind us, Mahomes has only played in one game. To go along with that debate, defenses haven’t seen him enough to plan against him. The Chiefs offense is virtually unknown to everyone.

Sure, we know the weapons they have and the potential that is present. Not one of us outside of the team has any clue what Andy Reid is going to come up with. The greatest show on turf may have a problem keeping up with the Chiefs in 2018.

Next: Greatest Chiefs Ever

Denver won’t be able to stop the onslaught, not with the defense they will be bringing this season. Oakland has their own experiment going with hopefully ageless weapons of their own, also, their defense will have a hard time figuring the Chiefs out as well. The Chargers should be able to hang a bit, but I wouldn’t bet against the Chiefs in that series if I were a betting man.
