By Chris Taylor
An injury to Mahomes would be detrimental
Imagine the season is clicking along and then the unthinkable happens. Patrick Mahomes goes down and doesn’t get up. On the sidelines warming up is Matt McGloin, ready to take the reigns and carry the Chiefs to victory.

No offense to McGloin, but a bad injury to Mahomes would spell disaster for Kansas City. It is literally the one injury that can’t happen. None of the backup quarterbacks have been successful in their NFL careers, more than likely meaning that the high powered offense would head to the locker room with Mahomes.
There are plenty of stars on this team that we all dread getting injured, but the Chiefs could probably learn to exist without them. Tyreek Hill would be a huge loss, but the receiver group is probably deeper than what we give that position credit for.
Kareem Hunt is extremely valuable, but the Chiefs have an enormous amount of running back depth behind him. Travis Kelce would more than likely be the one guy other than Mahomes that his absence would be severely noticeable.
Don’t get me wrong, injuries to the offensive line or players such as Berry and Houston would be hard to overcome, but Mahomes must stay healthy.
This season rests on his shoulders, If he performs well and stays healthy, nothing but big things will happen for the Chiefs, if he performs badly…..
