With the 114th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys picked Kansas Jayhawks defensive standout Dorance Armstrong Jr.

The wait is over for Kansas Jayhawks junior standout Dorance Armstrong Jr. The Dallas Cowboys liked what they saw and grabbed him with the 114th pick in round four. Armstrong will make an immediate impact for the Cowboys. He adds needed depth and potential to be a starter in the future.

Armstrongs junior year wasn’t near as flashy as his sophomore season or he would have been drafted much sooner. Make no mistake about it though, Armstrong was a bright light during his three dark years at Kansas.

He will more than likely play outside at the linebacker position at the pro level. He seemed a bit out of place his junior season, but in his defense, many Jayhawks were put in difficult situations as they struggled to compete.

The Cowboys organization and its fans should be happy with this pick. It should turn out to be a big value pick in the fourth, with a chance to be a steal.

Armstrong had 142 tackles, 34.5 for a loss, 15.5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and three recoveries over three seasons. He has angry hands, excellent hand work in getting around blocks. He plays well against the run, better than his film might suggest, but he’s a quarterback hunter.

Cowboys fans will be happy to know he’s a local kid. Born in Houston and raised in Cloverleaf Texas, he’ll be coming back home to put the star on his helmet.
