Kansas State Basketball: Wildcats are Elite in epic run
By Chris Taylor
Kansas State Basketball is on a tear this postseason. With the win against Kentucky, the Wildcats find themselves one game away from the Final Four.
No Dean Wade, no problem. No Xavier Sneed in the final minutes, not an issue. Three players having fouled out against John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats, who needs them. Kansas State Basketball is on their way to face No. 11 seed Loyola in the Elite Eight after both teams survived their Sweet Sixteen match-ups.

The fact that the Webercats beat Kentucky isn’t the story here, It’s how they won. Kansas State only shot 35% from the field. They attempted 15 fewer free throws, were outrebounded by nine, and played in front of a nearly solid Kentucky fan base. Oh, and Dean Wade only played eight minutes, scoring four points.
Bruce Weber’s team played lights out defense, and showed a gutsy heart as a team down the stretch to play without two of their best players in Xavier Sneed and Wade as the clock got shorter.
Sneed had himself a game, He shot 5-8 from beyond the three-point line on his way to 22 points on the night, He also added 9 rebounds. The only player to score in double digits other than Sneed was Barry Brown, who scored 13. Brown scored four of the last five points for the Wildcats, including a layup with just 18 seconds remaining to give the purple Wildcats the lead at 60-58. Amaad Wainright made one of two free throws to bring the final score to 61-58.
