2018 NFL Mock Draft: First KC Chiefs mock draft after free agency
Our fifth mock draft of the offseason is in the books!
With the meat of free agency wrapping up (that being the big names signing with their respective teams), the Chiefs can start to get a clearer picture of what their draft strategy will look like. If they go by this mock draft, they’ll be adding a defensive talent with their first pick and then maybe adding some key offensive positions after that.

The Chiefs don’t have a first round pick this year, which really sucks. For one, it makes doing these mock drafts less fun and that first night of the draft isn’t as enticing for Chiefs fans. Instead, we’ll be watching to see what the other AFC West teams do and where the top quarterbacks end up landing.
Out of all of the mock drafts I’ve done this offseason, this one was honestly my favorite. Maybe that’s because the team we have now is likely the one we’ll have heading into the actual season. Free agency addressed a few areas that the Chiefs could have opted to fill in the draft, so we could use the picks to go in a different direction.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Chiefs do opt to draft a quarterback this year, as they recently brought on Chad Henne to back up Patrick Mahomes, but now need a third string guy. The draft is probably the best way to address that, but they could pull what they did with Tyler Bray what seems like forever ago and sign someone who goes undrafted.

The draft is about a month away and that means we’ll have a few more mock drafts to get to until that weekend arrives. This is always one of the most exciting times of the year for football fans and we just have a few more weeks to go!
