Many experts didn’t give the Jayhawks a chance this season. Kansas Basketball has been proving doubters wrong all year, and now destiny may be on their side.

Kansas Basketball has a ton of lore and history behind their program. This season, as improbable as it may be, might be lined up for the Jayhawks to win another title. If you believe in superstitions, the improbable Jayhawks may have a probable chance to win the whole tournament.

In 2008, the Jayhawks were the number one seed in the Midwest Region. The Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games were in Omaha. The Championship was in San Antonio. In 2018, the opponents are different, but the road is exactly the same.

There is one major difference of course. These Jayhawks have nowhere near the bench that the 2008 squad had. Many have waited for Kansas to show their tired legs, yet they are still waiting. Kansas played three games in three days in the conference tournament and won all three. They played two games in three days in the NCAA’s and still no signs of weariness.

Eights have been decent to the Jayhawks. In 1988 Danny and the Miracles shocked the world as an eight seed to win the big dance.

In this years Sweet Sixteen, the Jayhawks are 10-1 against the field, which is extremely impressive. Three wins over WVU. Three wins over KSU. Also wins against Texas Tech, Syracuse, Kentucky, and Texas A&M. The one loss came against Texas Tech at home.

Kansas gets love from the National media when they come face to face with them. However, the media continues to refuse to give them credit when talking about the favorites to win it all.

Being overlooked may be a good thing. But the similarities between 2008 and 2018 are hard to overlook. The Jayhawks have been everything you as a fan could want them to be. Kansas is not given a chance to go much deeper than the Elite Eight if they can get past Clemson, a team they have never faced before. The interesting thing here is, the Jayhawks will probably be favorites to win each game they play from here on out.
