Wichita State basketball should be feeling pretty good about their chances of advancing to the Sweet Sixteen, but obviously you have to get there first before you start celebrating.

While Marshall had a fun season and paved their way to March Madness by winning the Conference USA Tournament, they should be no match for the Shockers. As mentioned in the Marshall section, Jon Elmore IS that team. If Elmore struggles, so will the Thundering Herd.

The other thing to keep in mind with teams like Marshall and Murray State, however, is that these teams have nothing to lose. No one expects either of them to advance past the first round, so they can play more loose and relaxed. Wichita State and West Virginia are the ones who have the pressure put on them in round one.

Wichita State is the highest seed out of these four teams, so as the expression goes “if the seeds play out” then the Shockers should be in the Sweet Sixteen. We all know it’s not that simple though and that’s why they play the games and also why the first two rounds of March Madness are the best time of the year sports wise.
